The airport lets you travel to other countries in the world of BELLOCCO. That sounds simple, but it is one of the most powerful tools in the game. The reason is that a great deal of BELLOCCO is country-bound: drug prices, businesses, hospital rates, bullet prices, the red light district and the casino tables all differ per country. Anyone who stays stuck in their home country misses half the opportunities. The airport is your gateway to all those other markets.
First you need a plane
You can only travel if you own a plane: without an aircraft the airport stays locked and you cannot go anywhere. You buy planes in the Shop (Planes tab); you also use the same aircraft to bomb spots on the map and to smuggle. More expensive, heavier aircraft are not only more powerful, they also fly faster: their speed bonus cuts your travel time to every destination.
Travel and travel time
Traveling works simply: you buy a ticket that costs cash, and the flight takes: depending on the destination and the speed of your plane: anywhere from a few minutes for a neighboring country to well over a quarter of an hour for the other side of the world. During that flight you are in transit and cannot do any local actions: no crimes, no dealing, no healing, no casino. You are suspended in the air between two worlds. As soon as you land, the prices and chances of your new location apply immediately. From that moment on you play entirely by the rules and rates of the country you are in, until you decide to fly again.
Why travel: and what does smuggling have to do with it?
The main reason to fly is to profit from the differences between countries. The key motives:
- Selling drugs where the street price is highest. This is the core of smuggling: you produce or buy cheaply in one country and fly to the country where the price peaks to sell at a profit.
- Buying businesses and casino tables in other countries. You always play at the casino of your current country, so traveling opens up new tables and new properties.
- Healing or buying bullets more cheaply where that is cheaper, because the hospital rate and the bullet price also differ per country.
Smuggling and traveling are two sides of the same coin. The airport is literally the means of transport that carries your goods from the cheap market to the expensive one: with the same plane you use for regular trips. As long as the price difference is bigger than your ticket cost, every flight makes you money.
Strategy and tips
The ticket price is a deliberate money sink: the game does not want you to commute back and forth endlessly for free. So travel with a plan, not on impulse. The smart approach is to bundle your actions around a single trip:
- Plan your trip around a goal: produce or buy your drugs first, then fly straight to the best market and sell everything there.
- Invest in a faster plane in good time: less time in the air means more time to earn on the ground.
- Combine several goals per trip: sell your drugs, heal more cheaply and check out the local businesses and casino tables while you are there.
- Keep in mind that you cannot do anything during the flight; do not plan a trip right before a time-sensitive action.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a plane to travel?
Yes. Without your own plane you cannot use the airport. Buy one in the Shop (Planes tab): you also use the same aircraft to smuggle and to bomb spots.
How do I travel to another country?
Via the airport. You buy a ticket that costs cash, wait out the flight time and land in the new country, where the local prices and chances apply immediately.
How long does a flight take?
It depends on the destination: a neighboring country is reachable in a few minutes, while the other side of the world easily takes a quarter of an hour. A heavier, faster plane shortens the travel time to every destination.
Can I take actions during the flight?
No. While in transit your local actions are on hold. Only once you have landed can you commit crimes, deal, heal or gamble again: at the rates of your new country.
Why does traveling cost money?
The ticket price is a deliberate money sink. Traveling only pays off when the price difference in your favor is bigger than the ticket cost, so plan your trips around a clear goal.
How are traveling and smuggling connected?
The airport is the means of transport for smuggling: you buy or produce drugs cheaply, fly to the country with the highest street price and sell at a profit there: with the same plane you use for regular trips.
